The USEF Show Jumping Course Advisor Program was introduced in 2004 to raise the standard of show jumping course design in the United States. In cooperation with the USEA, the program initially focused on show jumping courses for FEI and Advanced level competition, but expanded in recent years to reviews of courses for Preliminary and Intermediate horse trials. The goal of the program is to ensure the standard of the courses throughout the country and to deliver courses that provided the same level of technicality.

We catch up with Richard Jeffery who is the USEF Eventing Show Jumping Course Advisor about the new program for reviewing the show jumping courses at every FEI competition in the U.S. Course Designers will be asked to submit their courses as posted to Jeffery with all technical details (distance, time allowed, etc.) within five days of the competition.

The earliest participants of the 2016 USEA Annual Meeting and Convention joined esteemed show jumping course designer Richard Jeffery on Wednesday for a comprehensive clinic on course design. The group gathered at the Diplomat Resort & Spa in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for a classroom session before heading out to Tiffany Morrissey’s East Wind Farm to get hands on experience.

Back by popular demand, the Richard Jeffery Show Jumping seminar will once again be offered at the USEA Annual Meeting in Scottsdale, Arizona on Wednesday, December 8, 2010.  The day will begin at 10:00 AM with discussion about designing show jumping courses with special emphasis on the lower levels.  Participants will then help build a show jumping course and then watch as horses and riders navigate it.
